Are you stuck in a style rut?

Posted by Verity Johnston on

Are you feeling a little disenchanted when you get dressed in the morning? No longer feeling inspired or excited when you look in your wardrobe? Don't worry, you're not alone! Everyone is struggling at the moment for one reason or another so it's important to climb out of your rut carefully. There's no instant fix (unless you're prepared to invest hugely and completely renew your wardrobe!) but there are some steps you can take to clamber out in your own way.

Purge your wardrobe

The first place to start is to look at what you already have. The chances are, you have more than you need. I bet there are also items that either no longer fit or that you haven't worn in a long time. If your wardrobe is overflowing it can be quite overwhelming, leading you to grab the same comfy items over and over again.

There's no easy way to say this, but if you haven't worn them in the last 2 years, you're not likely to wear them again. Get rid! Charity shops are busier than ever and would love your donations, or get online and sell sell sell! A Spring clean is also the perfect way to care for your mental health.

When you've removed all the unworn items, go through the pile you thought you loved. Try everything on. Do you still love it? Or is it more of an emotional attachment? You may find more can go to the charity shop. This will leave you with only items you truly love and will wear.

Reflect on your current style

Now you have a wardrobe containing only items that you love and wear. Make a mental note of what you have, the colours you've chosen, the styles you feel comfortable in and what works well together. It's a good time to have a trying on session and try out different outfit combinations. You may find a new way of wearing one of your old faithfuls!

What do you need?

Now it's time to shop. But plan ahead. Look for items that will match more than 2 pieces already in your wardrobe. What would tie some of your tops together? Maybe a new pair of magic trousers? Magic trousers are a real staple to any wardrobe. They're versatile and available in a range of colours. Plus if you prefer a looser fit, try the relaxed fit option.

Or maybe you're looking to experiment with some accessories? Rather than buy new tops, you can spend less on jewellery and instantly upgrade your look.

Sometimes, we just need a new top to cheer ourselves up and this doesn't need to break the bank. If you already have the magic trousers, the accessories and a whole range of tops but you're still feeling uninspired, why not browse the tops I have at WN2L? You can sort by price to make your spending easier to manage or just get involved and browse the entire range. There's so much to choose from!

Ways to save money

The aim for What's Not 2 Love has always been to remain affordable whilst offering fun and funky plus size clothing. Here are a few ways to help you save whilst you're upgrading your wardrobe.

  1. Create an account and start collecting points with your purchases. These add up to £5 Love Rewards which can be used against future orders.
  2. Shop my Bundles! I've put together 6 fabulous outfit bundles that save you huge amounts of money. I update these regularly so keep checking back.
  3. Shop the SALE. There is always a SALE collection running at WN2L! Whether I'm having a clear out, end of season, seconds or even surprise items I've found lurking in the unit that have somehow been missed!
  4. SIGN UP to the newsletter. Hear about all offers, discounts, deals and and any news first! I sometimes send out discount codes via email that are nowhere else in the website or social media, so keep your eyes peeled.
  5. Shop the £20 AND UNDER Collection where everything is (you guessed it) under £20.

Confidence is key

I hope this has helped you develop an idea of what you're looking for and maybe given you a good place to start.

No matter what you wear, confidence is the best accessory. Embrace your new style with confidence and it will shine through. If you love, wear it!

Much love, Verity xx
